Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering + Innovation Fair
Mrs. JeJuan Stewart recently attended the 2026 Science, Engineering + Innovation Fair Awards, part of the 48th Annual Gwinnett Regional Science, Engineering + Innovation Fair, held on Friday, February 27th at the Gas South Convention Center.
The event brought together students, educators, higher education representatives, and community leaders to celebrate research, discovery, and innovation across Gwinnett County. From the organization of the competition to the awards presentation, the process reflected intentional planning and a strong framework for supporting student achievement.
Throughout the exhibition space were impressive displays and compelling presentations from passionate young scientists. Students tackled real-world challenges with depth and creativity, demonstrating strong analytical thinking and clear communication skills. The level of preparation on display underscored the importance of mentorship, school support, and family encouragement in nurturing academic excellence.
Engagement with students and conversations with a team of judges representing Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and Gwinnett Technical College offered meaningful insight into how higher education institutions and community partners can work together to expand pathways in science, engineering, and innovation.
At the same time, the fair highlighted a significant reality: disparities in access to enrichment opportunities remain visible even within Gwinnett County schools. Competitions like this showcase both excellence and inequity. Bridging that gap will require more intentional partnerships between schools, community-based organizations, and institutions committed to expanding access to research experiences and STEM exposure.
After engaging with these remarkable young scholars, one thing is clear — the future is bright. With continued collaboration and opportunity, it can shine even brighter.
